Liz Thele was born at an army hospital in Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. As a child a fascination with nature and exploring the backcountry was part of growing up in the mid-west. Since elementary school, she has done many artistic designs for school activities. A graduate from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, her early career pursued more abstract subjects. In 1989 she and her family moved to Colorado. It was in the early 1990's because of her love of nature, her interest in painting shifted towards the landscape.
Thele and her paintings have brought the outdoors in. She states, "A painting is an intimate dialogue recording the light, texture and mood of the landscape." Outside the artist works to capture the excitement of the scene. In the studio the artist orchestrates the essence of that study to take the viewer back into that scene, to feel and experience. Thele has participated and won numerous awards from shows around Colorado. She has also participated in the Plein Air Tuscon, Estes Plein Air, Oil Painters of America, National and Regional shows.
